An excellent skater who uses his edgework, pivots, and stop-start ability to defend effectively and maintain good positioning. He is an excellent transporter who makes smart decisions on zone entries and consistently looks to create offense. He is always moving in the offensive zone, finds space well, and moves the puck quickly in tight areas. A solid handler at speed who can make defenders miss, he also possesses a dangerous shot from inside the blue line and can fool goaltenders with a quick-release wrist shot. His ability to process and move the puck quickly stood out, particularly in the offensive zone, where he was quicker to distribute than many of the other players in this viewing. He shows decent defensive responsibility for a player with his offensive instincts, and his skating helps him maintain advantageous positioning against this level of competition.
His size is the primary concern. He is very small and lacks strength, which becomes more evident when opponents apply physical pressure. Although his feet and puck skills help him evade pressure, contact can disrupt his execution and lead to mistakes. His limited reach and lack of physical strength could also become liabilities defensively against bigger opponents.
He can thrive at this level through his skating, puck skill, and quick decision-making, but his ability to translate those strengths against older, stronger competition remains an open question. There is legitimate offensive ability here, but I remain skeptical about how well his game will project as the physical demands increase. He will need to demonstrate that he can continue to make plays and withstand pressure against bigger, more mature opponents before I become confident in his long-term projection.
