Scouting Notes

He is a fluid skater with good mobility, although he does not quite possess high-end explosiveness. He pivots well and maintains his speed through transitions, allowing him to close effectively laterally on the rush. Balance is a high-end trait. He is a skilled puck handler with excellent hand-eye coordination and a strong stick, allowing him to handle pressure and maintain control in tight areas.

He is a highly polished passer who plays with excellent composure and a strong understanding of the game. He sees the ice exceptionally well, anticipates where the puck is going, and consistently makes intelligent decisions with possession. The game appears to slow down for him, allowing him to execute plays with confidence and precision. While he may not always create the most dynamic or electric plays, he is very efficient with the puck and has the vision to generate offence. He also shows good stretch-pass ability and is effective at moving the puck up ice. He is a willing shooter on the power play, showing good patience and an understanding of getting pucks through traffic by keeping his shots low. His vision was particularly impressive, as he created numerous quality scoring chances for his forwards that went unfinished. He easily could have finished the game with three or four points.

Defensively, he is a smart positional player who shows good instincts and strong body control. He defends the rush well, closes space effectively, and demonstrates sound judgment when deciding when to step up. Despite his smaller frame, he uses leverage well to establish positioning and box out opponents. He is constantly scanning the ice and generally makes intelligent defensive reads. There is some room for him to play with greater urgency, but his awareness and effort are positives.

His primary limitation is his size, as he can be overpowered physically despite his willingness to compete and use leverage. He does a good job compensating through balance, body positioning, and intelligence. Overall, he is a highly skilled and composed player whose vision, passing ability, puck management, and decision-making drive his offensive impact. He may lack elite explosiveness and physical presence, but his ability to control play, create chances, and defend intelligently makes him a very intriguing prospect.
