Scouting Notes

Top notch game for Stroeder who put up a Hat Trick and a whopping 7SOG. He was all over the ice from puck drop, and now sits at 3G and 3A in 5GP to start the season. More than just the offensive explosion, Stroeder demonstrated plenty of Pro tools and habits in this viewing. He showed a very good stick along the boards, regularly coming out of crowded spaces with possession. Additionally, he showed off some nice NZ play and was able to force multiple turnovers by virtue of being in the right spot. The shooting ability stood out here, especially on his 2nd goal that was an absolute rocket. Really liked his vision as a playmaker. He made multiple seam-plays onto his teammates tape while looking off or baiting the defender. Strong puck carrier who showed an ability to create separation with quick burst and subtle changes of direction. Good hands in motion, although I wouldn't describe him as an elite dangler, but more so a very effective puck carrier. I liked his patience with the puck, as he rarely forced a play while being able to take advantage of the openings that were given to him. He has some definite burst in his stride, although I'd stop short of calling him a true burner. The skating is definitely an asset at this level, and projects to be at least average at the Pro level - no issues here in that regard - and he showed some good quickness/jump as well. There didn't seem to be any quit in his game, as he made a lot of positive plays happen as a result of a strong 2nd effort (notably on his first goal of the game where he banged home his own rebound). The effort level and motor are very strong with this player. Size is about average, but he was strong in puck protection despite this. He knows how to shield himself and the puck from defenders in order to maintain control. Stroeder has a chance to be a Day 1 pick at the 2027 NHL Draft with continued performances like this one.
