Scouting Notes

He has decent straight-line speed when he gets moving with a head of steam, but lacks explosiveness and overall quickness. His stride doesn't generate much power, and he struggles with balance and changing direction. He can handle the puck at higher speeds, but doesn't get there consistently enough. Overall, he looks a step behind the play at times, both physically and in his ability to process the game.

Offensively, he has some intriguing tools around the net. If he gets the puck in tight, he can finish, although his release is slow when shooting from distance. He has good hands for a big player and can use his reach to make moves in space. However, his stick is weak for his size, and he bobbles the puck too frequently. He struggles to maintain possession, often losing the puck while attempting to dangle or making a pass. He's a decent passer in transition, but his execution is clunky, and he tends to take too long to make decisions. I don't see him as a particularly fluid playmaker.

Defensively, there are significant concerns with his awareness and mobility. He puck-watches, misses assignments, and makes too many positional errors. His backcheck is extremely slow and regularly contributes to odd-man rushes against. He is often late recognizing or reacting to developing threats, and his lack of mobility makes it difficult for him to recover when caught out of position.

Physically, he engages enough to throw some contact on the forecheck, but doesn't consistently battle through said contact. Despite his size, he's too weak on his skates to be a consistent physical threat. His lack of balance allows even slower opponents to win battles against him, and he can be knocked off pucks by opposing physical play. He also lacks consistent engagement and movement away from the puck.

Overall, the biggest concern is that his size isn't translating into a meaningful advantage. He has some useful offensive tools, particularly his hands in tight and ability to finish around the net, but his lack of pace, poor balance, inconsistent puck management, and defensive awareness are significant limitations. He doesn't do anything particularly quickly and can look a step slow processing the game. There is a gap between his physical profile and how he actually impacts play.
