Yevgeni Yakunin

Scouting Notes

Not his most explosive game offensively, but he still did a lot of things well. Liked how he applied pressure on the forecheck as F1. Showed instances of patience with the puck and flashes of playmaking ability. Keep in mind he is playing vs Men in this viewing in the VHL. Good two-way effort, and forced a couple turnovers with good backcheck/DZ play. Has the size to play in dirty areas and won some battles - no concerns with size/strength profile. Showed ability to get to the middle of the ice/front of the net. Displayed strong skating ability - was able to close gaps on much older players. Good instincts. Positive viewing overall.
